For UK bookkeeping and accounting practices
Take on more clients without hiring another bookkeeper.
AskChan collects the paperwork from your clients’ bank and inbox, books it with the reason shown, and only asks your team about what’s unclear. Once.
No more chasing. One system, receipt to filing.Answer once, and AskChan learns for good.
Where your hours go
It isn’t the accounting that eats the week.
It’s everything around it. Here’s what practices tell us, and what it adds up to for yours.
The third reminder email
Receipts, statements, missing invoices. Chasing clients takes the largest share of a bookkeeper’s time, before anything is booked.
Five logins, one job
A ledger, a receipt tool, a year-end tool, practice management and spreadsheets. Each one a subscription, each hand-off a chance to re-key.
The same questions, every month
The same odd items queried again, entries re-checked, the accounts rebuilt at year end.
What it costs your practice today
hours a year spent chasing clients
full-time bookkeepers’ worth of chasing, at 1,600 hours a year
tools to learn, log into and copy data between
a year on software for these clients
hours a year back for your team
bookkeepers’ worth of time, free for more clients
Assumes AskChan removes 60–80% of the hours per client. Your pilot measures the real figure.
How it works
What changes for your practice.
My team’s hours go on chasing, not accounting.
No more chasing
Receipts and statements are fetched from your clients’ bank and inbox, so nobody sends the third reminder email.
We pay for five tools and still copy data between them.
One system, receipt to filing
Bank and inbox in; books, VAT returns through Making Tax Digital and Companies House accounts out. Fewer logins and subscriptions, nothing re-keyed, and a new starter learns one system, not five.
Automation always needs babysitting.
Answer once, and AskChan learns for good
Only what’s unclear comes to your team, once, and AskChan books it that way from then on. There are no rules to build or maintain.
I’d want to see it on my own clients first.
See the results, then decide
AskChan runs alongside your current software on the same clients. You get its books next to yours, with every difference explained, and decide from there whether to switch. Nothing changes until you do.
- Step 1
Connect
Your client’s bank and inbox, read-only. Their current ledger keeps running.
- Step 2
AskChan does the books
Documents fetched, every line booked with its reason, reconciled every night.
- Step 3
Your team answers only what’s unclear
Once. VAT returns and year-end accounts come out ready for you to approve.
Safe to try
Where you end up, and how you get there safely.
One system is where you end up. A parallel run is how you get there: your clients stay on Xero, QuickBooks or Sage until every number matches.
Built in
- A parallel run: every difference listed with its cause, until there are none
- Reasoning and source on every entry
- You approve every VAT return and set of accounts before it’s filed
- Read-only bank access; client data never trains shared models
Honest status
- In build, tested on copies of real books, never live ones
- HMRC recognition for MTD and Companies House software filing before go-live
- SOC 2 and Cyber Essentials Plus on the roadmap, not held yet
- A data processing agreement, with every sub-processor named (our AI provider included) and where data is hosted, signed before any client data connects
The founding-practice offer
Try it on [5] clients. Keep the hours you save.

FAQ
What owners ask first.
Do my clients have to leave Xero?
Not during the pilot. AskChan runs alongside it, and nothing switches until every number matches.
Do we check every entry?
No. AskChan books what it can explain and shows why. Only what’s unclear reaches your team, once. You still approve every return before it’s filed.
Can we set our own rules?
No, and that’s deliberate. Rules need maintaining. You teach AskChan by answering questions, once.
What does AskChan file?
VAT returns to HMRC through Making Tax Digital, and year-end accounts to Companies House. Both need recognition before go-live.
What exists today?
AskChan is in build, tested on copies of real books. On the first call we’ll show you exactly what works and what doesn’t yet.
How will it be priced?
Per client, not per seat, so your cost follows your client book, not your headcount. Founding practices lock in their price.
Who is it not for?
Practices that want to check every entry, or configure their own rules. We’d rather say so now.
